Day 26

Shocked to hear about Sophiya Haque's death. May her sould rest in peace. Deepest Condolences to her family.

Every family who has a girl child in India awaits her wedding day. I have a younger sister so my family will see her wedding after me. But, I have a very special wedding coming up in a week. There are so many Indian rituals that are followed all through the wedding process. Here, I am talking about my sister's wedding on 23rd March 2013. She was born in a Jain 'T Series' family, as aunty would describe. A family that religiously are Jain but maintained a cordial open mind with the ever changing world. So, she is 24 and she is about to get married in a week. A whole new life is going to unfold for her. I am curiously waiting to know how well she manages this new chapter in her life.

Just the thought of leaving the family you are born for a family you have hardly known is scary. How beautifully our mother has accomplished this major responsibility is what we realize when we see the girl child of the family go to an other family. Parents and siblings are wanting to know if her daughter or sister is safe, happy, protected, loved, cared and valued in the family she has dedicated her life too. Jain's have rituals which may be different from other Hindu religions.

First ritual which I was a part of was 'Thap' on December 10, 2012 where in the bride and groom have a gathering at their respective homes with all the family members and close friends. It is believed that after the ritual of 'Thap' is over, the marriage is bound to happen at any cause. Nothing in this world can stop the marriage of the bride and groom, not even death of a family member. It took over my mind when I understood this but still I don't agree with this. Never mind, me agreeing to it or not will not change it.

The second ritual is not a Jain ritual, it's something which youth all over the world tend to follow. It's a trend as the world say. The second ritual which I was a part of was a Bachelorette party on January 5, 2013. When I got an invite for this party I actually thought it would only be a small get together of her close friends, some music and food and its over. I was wrong here. I never knew that girls could also host a hell of a bachelorette party. The party was themed, 'Prince & Princess Party'. A specific dress code was called for where the guys would turn out to be the cool prince with a T-shirt & Denim and girls would wear a one piece and a crown ordered for them. I turned to be the most awesomely cool prince with the true cool prince attire. This is what every one had to say. I am obliged to be the best always *smart*.  Putting up 3 most cherished moments of the night.
